Description
Charles and Ray Eames Walnut, Leather Lounge Chair, Ottoman Herman Miller c2010
Offered for sale is a 21st century Modern original walnut and leather lounge chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. The set is in great condition and is authenticated by the blue cloth tag as an original Herman Miller production from no earlier than 2010.
The explanation for the blue "L" tag is as follows:
"A blue fabric tag with a dot in the upper right corner on an Eames chair is a sign of an authentic, more modern version manufactured by Herman Miller. This tag variation was introduced as part of a series of updates to the company's labeling and can be used to date the chair. Ottoman measures:17" H, 24.5" W, 21" D
Interpreting the tag:
Manufacturer: The tag confirms the chair was made by Herman Miller, one of the two main licensed manufacturers of Eames furniture (the other is Vitra).
Production era: The blue fabric tag is part of a modern labeling system, likely indicating production sometime in the 2010s or more recently. Older Eames chairs used different labeling methods, such as paper patent labels, circular foil medallions, or rectangular black or silver plastic labels.
Why the dot?
The dot is part of the tag's specific visual design for a particular period of manufacturing. Herman Miller periodically updates its tags to prevent counterfeiting and provide buyers with clear authentication information. The tag's precise design can help experts pinpoint the exact manufacturing year within the broader modern period."
This is a great set and ready to place in your design setting. It is an authentic Herman Miller set produced to the specific measurements of the original Mid-century Modern Eames Chairs and ottomans. The blue cloth "L" tag with the dot guarantees the authenticity of the set being a Herman Miller 2010+ production. It was acquired from the original owner who purchased it new circa 2010 directly from Herman Miller. -
