French 19th century (circa 1820) hall bench–or settee–with woven rush seat and fruitwood frame. The wood is finished smooth to a warm luster, carved with elegant scrolls in the line of the arms and curve of the front legs, reflecting the signature elements of French Restauration taste. Ideal for two people to sit comfortably, the back is divided with a middle stile over a single bench seat of woven rush grass that is in fantastic condition for the age. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this versatile design is ready for your interior.
