Description
A sculptural Finnish Mid-Century Modern lounge chair that perfectly captures the soft, organic elegance associated with the designs of Jean Royère. Defined by its flowing silhouette and enveloping form, the chair combines graceful curves with understated Scandinavian restraint, creating a piece that is as visually appealing as it is exceptionally comfortable.
The generously proportioned shell is upholstered in its original mustard yellow fabric, a warm and vibrant tone that beautifully complements the natural wood. The upholstery remains in good original condition, displaying only light wear consistent with age while preserving the authentic character of the chair. The generously padded seat and gently reclining backrest offer outstanding comfort, making it equally suited for long evenings of reading as for creating an inviting conversation corner.
The frame is crafted from solid pine and rests on elegantly tapered birch legs, lending the chair a light visual presence despite its substantial comfort. The contrast between the soft, rounded upholstery and the clean wooden legs is characteristic of Scandinavian Modern design, balancing warmth with refinement.
Its timeless form allows it to integrate effortlessly into a wide range of interiors, from Mid-Century Modern and Scandinavian homes to contemporary, eclectic, and minimalist spaces. Whether placed in a living room, bedroom, hotel suite, or lounge area, it functions as both a practical seating solution and a sculptural statement piece.
The chair remains in good original vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. The upholstery is original and well preserved, retaining an attractive patina that enhances its authenticity. The inside of the seat cushon has been renewed to assure a soft comfortable feel while preserving the original fabric. A rare and elegant example of Finnish Mid-Century seating, offering comfort, craftsmanship, and enduring design in equal measure. -
