Set of Six 'Morten' Dining Chair by Niels Koefoed, Denmark 1960s

Sold Sold
  • Description
Niels Koefoed’s designs reflect the quiet precision of Danish modernism. The “Morten” dining chair, produced by Koefoeds Møbelfabrik in the 1960s, captures his sculptural approach to form and material. This set of six chairs presents a refined and functional take on the dining chair.

    Design
Each frame is crafted from solid teak, shaped with gentle curves that emphasize both structure and movement. The defining feature is the open, drop-shaped backrest—a bold yet balanced gesture that gives the chair its distinct character. The back tapers into the seat frame with a fluid motion, offering both support and visual flow. Tapered legs, subtly angled, complete the frame with a light and confident stance. The seats are well upholstered in a neutral textured fabric that complements the warm tone of the wood without competing with its grain. However, upon request these seats can be re-upholstered.

The design achieves a quiet elegance without the need for ornament. It is a study in proportion, restraint, and thoughtful detailing.

    Condition
The chairs are in very good condition. They also have a stamp underneath the seat.
