Description
A Swedish Rococo period 18th century painted wood buffet from Värmland, with canted sides, four drawers and two doors. Created in the west-central province of Värmland during the 18th century, this painted buffet features a polygonal top sitting above a carefully organized façade. Two drawers in the upper section, each fitted with a petite brass pull, showcase a dovetail construction revealing the piece's good age. The rest of the façade is made of two doors with carved panels, opening to reveal inner shelves offering good storage space. The side posts are canted and present a décor echoed from the doors. The sides comprise of unusually yet conveniently placed drawers completing the ensemble beautifully. Resting on a carved base, the buffet is painted in a soft color with good distressing, typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark Scandinavian winters. The back is, of course, unfinished. With its elegant lines and weathered appearance, this Swedish Rococo period 18th century buffet from Värmland will make for a great addition to any dining room or living room!
