    Late19th / early 20th Century Chinese Seated Buddha Statue. Carved wood with dry lacquers and gilding. This statue is from a Buddhist Temple circa 1900. Excellent proportions to scale, of significant size. Remnants of gilding and layers of lacquer. Every Buddha representation through its portrayal is creating energy that visually shares and portrays ideas. This statue sharing the combination of two Mudra's. Vitarka Mudra which is teaching and discussion, intellectual debate, and Karana Mudra which signifies expelling demons and negative energy. The energy created by these Mudra's used together is quite strong using the teaching of principles as a power to help remove obstacles such as sickness or negative thoughts. Condition is very good, wear commensurate with age and use. Collected in Hunan China.
