Albedo (from Latin albus, white) is the ratio of the light reflected by an object or a surface to that received by it. Albedo also refers to the dawn, the beginning of a new day, a new story, a new brand, born in 2016 from a project by two established managers in the furniture industry, passionate, visionary and courageous entrepreneurs who believe in the Italian ability to interpret the wide taste of an educated, sensitive and design-loving international audience.
This effect of light and shadows, black and white, surfaces carved in a play of light and dark, inspired the designer Carlo Cumini to create a collection of furnishings characterized by a strong personality and unique, democratic, perceptible design, intentionally oriented to enhance the forms and the exclusively handcrafted production descending from a culture and a craftsmanship that honors the label "Made in Italy".
Albedo proposal begins with a collection of very different furniture pieces, designed for home living spaces, where forms, functions and textural finishes interact well together and allow to furnish with an eclectic style of strong personality, a never evanescent or fashionable furniture, but deliberately imbued with executive preciosity inspired by traditional craftsmanship, long lasting and simultaneously nomad; objects that remain and coexist with places, The cultures and always evolving lifestyles.
Every home is an expression of its inhabitants personality, expresses its history, memories, passions, culture; Albedo enters in this world quietly, humbly, respectfully, but with the strength of a determined and not contaminated design, just not to override existing styles, but interacting with them and adding value in a set of intimate personality.
Albedo quality is guaranteed by the exquisite craftsmanship of precious materials used; wood, metal, leather, fabric, glass, selected and shaped by Italian craftsmen with whom we work to ensure our customers the assurance of Italian quality and the flexibility to create custom finishes on customers and interior designers request.
Albedo's headquarters and showroom are based in northeast Italy, between Veneto and Friuli, the historic area of manufacturing in the furniture industry, 40 km from Venice. From this wonderful city, from its beauty, culture and architecture, we draw inspiration.

Carlo Cumini

After completing his studies in 1974 he began working in the family business. Since its arrival, the company has been guided by its natural sense for contemporary aesthetics. So much so that in the following years the family shop became a regional and then national point of reference for design furniture.

In 1989 he met the entrepreneurs Marson and Chiarot with whom he founded Horm,

of which he is the artistic director and designer of numerous products from the company's collection.

His activity as a designer alternated in the following years with the management of the family business until 1995 when, almost for fun, he began a production of furniture with an ethnic flavor with an entrepreneur friend. And what began as an adventure turns out to be a project that still gives great satisfaction today.

In the meantime, Carlo Cumini approaches the world of lighting by collaborating with companies such as Luc'è whose products are now considered classics of minimalist design.

Since the mid-90s he has actively dedicated himself to the growth of the family business by opening one of the first Italian concept stores in the historic center of his city.

The continuous search for new brands in addition to the most well-known brands of European design and his experience as a designer and interior designer led him in 2000 to design all the furnishings of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas.

Since then Carlo Cumini has continued to draw, design and sculpt unique pieces or small numbered series of furniture for his business.

In 2015 he returned to his passion for light and furniture and designed Konica for the Spanish company Fambuena and an entire collection of furniture for the Albedo company.
