Table Lamp “Bricola” In Murano By Federica Marangoni For ITRE, Italy 1975

Sold Sold
  • Description
Gio Ponti commissioned Federica Marangoni in 1971 to develop a lighting installation for the Euroluce in Turin. The imposing work of art with a height of two meters and a diameter of one meter forty was formed by a central cylinder containing three fluorescent tubes. DesignFive cone-shaped plexiglass parts rested on these tubes, which were embraced by a black ring. This “Bricola” table lamp is the smaller version and was initially made in a small edition of fifty pieces for Centro Domus in Milan. One of these lamps is also included in the collection of the Design Museum della Triennale di Milano. Only from 1980 onwards was the “Bricola” manufactured by ITRE, a lighting company based in Salzano. The design is of a simple beauty. A black round polyester top or plateau with raised edges forms the base on which five conical Murano hollow glass rods stand. They lean against the fixture and are held together by a black metal ring. The special white drawing in the glass as a decorative element is a Murano technique called variegato.ConditionThis object is breathtaking both with the light source on and off and it is in very good condition without any noticeable imperfections.BibliographyDomus, Dec. 1971, vol 505, pp. 47–47.
