Design on a Dime Expands Lineup of
Top Interior Designers
and Brands

Crowds of eager design shoppers packed into the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea on Thursday night for the VIP opening of "Design on a Dime," the wildly popular, highly-anticipated three-day New York bargain shopping event for design.

New York's design elite was out in force for the benefit event, now in its 19th year, and organized to support Housing Works, a nonprofit organization that provides services for the homeless and advocacy work to end the AIDS epidemic.

Design on a Dime Founding Chair, James Huniford

Incollect dealers Paul Donzella, Karl Kemp, Newel, Eric Appel, Liz O’Brien, and Rodrigo Salem from Found Collectibles were among the participating designers, dealers, galleries, shops, and brands that donated decor, furnishings, and art, all to be sold off for charity at prices as much as 80% below retail.

Salem donated three items from his extensive collection of modern design to different booths while Donzella donated "Angle et Volute," a heavy gauge wire sculpture by the French artist William Lemariey to a booth designed by Danielle Colding Design. “It is what the designer chose,” he told me during the bustling opening night event. “They pick things that they like, that's how it works.”

The 2024 show includes sixty booths, “shoppable” rooms assembled by top interior designers, architects and design professionals. The booth count is up from last year, attesting to the strong industry support the event enjoys. On opening night, lines of eager shoppers with timed entry tickets waiting to get in snaked around the block onto 6th Avenue.

The event is led again by founding chair James Huniford with co-chairs Rayman Boozer, Jamie Drake, Elissa Grayer, Young Huh, David Kaihoi and Miles Redd, Charlotte Moss, and Joy Moyler.

Other dealers and designers participating in the benefit include Bernd Goeckler Inc., Tom Faulkner, Ralph Pucci, and brands such as Muji, Knoll, Holly Hunt, B&B Italia, Home Goods, Ligne Roset, and Williams Sonoma. Benjamin Moore is the paint sponsor as in previous years.

"Design on a Dime and Housing Works are the perfect match. The event offers the full complement of interior design and home a powerful, meaningful opportunity to join forces to showcase and catalyze our love for home on behalf of a crucial cause: to help Housing Works provide New Yorkers with a safe, dignified place of their own." – James Huniford, Founding Chair, Design On a Dime
