A Rare Table Lamp by Gunilla Jung Model 2004, Orno 1930s
-
Description
A rare Gunilla Jung table lamp model 2004, designed in 1936-37 for Orno and exhibited at the 1937 Paris world exposition. Gunilla Jung drafted this lamp at the same time she designed the lighting for the iconic Savoy theatre in Helsinki, making it the lamp that paved the way to a timeless trend in brass lighting. Today, over 90 years later, that trend is still strong.
This lamp was in production for a short period of time in the late 1930's. It is rare partly due to the formidable and high production costs back then as well as the outbreak of the 2nd World War. It is one of the most luxurious lamps of it's time (According to the Orno 1939 catalogue and the price list modification in November 1939).
This lamp retains all original parts except for the wiring that is renewed. Brass parts have been polished and the inner part of the shade repainted -
