Dating from 1971, this Van Cleef & Arpels 18K gold, coral and amethyst "Résille" suite is transformable from a dog collar into a pair of bracelets, and is accompanied by a pendant/brooch. The suite is designed as a complex, interlocking pattern of round and textured links highlighted by large coral and amethyst cabochons. Bold and colorful, this versatile vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewel of various transformations radiates the joyful and open spirit of the 1960s and 1970s.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Van Cleef & Arpels drew inspiration from the jewelry of Asian cultures. Fully revolutionizing their body of work from the 1950s, the firm emulated the opulent necklaces celebrating color often worn by Indian rulers and set in gold. At the same time, they continued to draw from their core motifs drawn from the French art of passementerie, here expressed in the "Résille" design.
