"Serapi' is a trade term for better woven and drawn antique Heriz rugs such as this one with an exceptional natural dye palette including madder for the subfield indigo for the complex veined medallion weld for the yellow highlights and natural undyed ivory wool for the rosette and oak leaf corners. This scatter has all the details of a large carpet in elegantly compressed form. Navy border with balanced strip sections of reversing turtles. One of the best small format Heriz type rugs around. Attractive and high-quality rustic NW Persian scatter in good condition with a solid weave on a cotton foundation.
