Description
A beautifully sculptural Emilia Castillo silver-plated wine bottle coaster, handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico during the 1980s. This elegant design features four deeply fluted shell motifs radiating around the circular form, a signature interpretation of the natural world that has become synonymous with Emilia Castillo's celebrated Mexican silver designs.
The coaster combines sophisticated coastal inspiration with timeless Mexican craftsmanship, making it equally suited for displaying a favorite bottle of wine, champagne, sparkling water, or as a striking decorative accent on a bar cart, dining table, or entertaining space. The original cork-lined interior protects bottles while adding warmth and functionality to the design.
Known for transforming traditional Taxco silversmithing into refined contemporary works of art, Emilia Castillo's pieces remain highly collectible for their exceptional quality, sculptural forms, and enduring elegance.
The underside retains the original maker's stamp:
"EMILIA CASTILLO / MEXICO M.R. / PLATEADO / TO-85"
An exceptional addition to collections of Taxco silver, Mexican modern design, barware, wine accessories, decorative objects, and Emilia Castillo tableware.
Measurements
Diameter: 5.625 in. (14.3 cm)
Height: 3.25 in. (8.3 cm)
Condition
Good vintage condition with light age-appropriate wear, including minor oxidation and patina to the underside. Original cork insert remains intact and fully functional. -
