Description
A compelling contemporary abstract painting by Rick Hobbs titled “Rehearsal,” executed in 2008 in acrylic on board. This richly layered composition presents a dramatic interplay of saturated crimson, ember orange, burnt sienna, golden ochre, and smoky charcoal tones, creating a powerful atmospheric presence reminiscent of fire, reflected light, and architectural shadow.
The elongated horizontal format makes this piece particularly desirable for placement above a sofa, credenza, console, bed, dining sideboard, or within a luxury hospitality, commercial, or residential interior. The luminous high-gloss surface reveals exceptional depth, transparency, and movement, while the painterly vertical passages and soft dissolving forms evoke the emotional language of post-war abstraction and contemporary color field painting.
Hand signed “hobbs” to the lower corner, and fully hand titled, dated, and inscribed to the verso:
“Rehearsal”
24 x 48
© 2008 Rick Hobbs
An excellent acquisition for collectors of contemporary American abstraction, as well as interior designers seeking a statement artwork with warmth, drama, and architectural scale.
The piece shows age-appropriate wear including scattered nicks, scratches, and minor edge losses consistent with display and handling, yet presents beautifully.
