Description
This very rare floor lamp was manufactured by Möllers Armatur in Eskilstuna, Sweden in the late 1950s. The piece is marked with the manufacturer’s MAE mark on the underside of the base.
The design is defined by a slender tripod base in brass, its three tubular legs rising upward and partly disappearing into the tapered teak column, a nice constructive detail. Each leg is formed from a single continuous run of brass tubing, flowing unbroken from the foot all the way up to the lamp fitting. The graphic silhouette and airy presence of the piece give it a striking character, while the warm grain of the teak grounds it. The tall, tapered lampshade has been newly replaced with one in ivory silk by Colefax and Fowler, creating a pleasing contrast with the warmth of the wood and the brass.
The lamp is in very good original condition, with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The brass with a natural patina. The lampshade is renewed. Currently wired with 220V European wiring, with a standard E27 bulb fitting.
Total height including shade: 154.5 cm / 60.8 in
Height of the base only, excluding shade: 111 cm / 43.7 in
Diameter of the shade: 30 cm / 11.8 in
Dimensions of the base: 37 x 39 cm / 14.6 x 15.4 in -
