Art Nouveau Oil Lamp in Brass & Green, Matador Brenner, Early 20th Century

Description
A beautiful Art Nouveau oil or kerosene lamp combining pale green elements, decorative brass fittings and an elaborately ornamented glass shade. The slender, shaped stem supports a rounded fuel reservoir, while the ornate foot gives the lamp a balanced and elegant silhouette. The soft green colour sits beautifully against the warm tones and aged patina of the brass.
The glass shade is particularly striking, with raised flowing lines, floral motifs and finely detailed floral decoration across its translucent panels. Its scalloped upper edge follows the organic character of the design, with a clear glass chimney rising through the centre.
The burner is marked “Matador Brenner,” and the wick adjustment wheel carries the same name together with the word “Patent” and a decorative emblem dating it to around the late 19th century to early 20th century.
An expressive decorative piece that would sit beautifully on a console, side table or cabinet. Its floral ornament and gentle colour would complement an Art Nouveau or traditional interior, while also bringing character to a more contemporary setting.
The brass surfaces display visible patina. The precise composition of the pale green sections, which appear to be opaque glass, has minor wear with very few small black spots. Please see phot -
