Description
A pair of Dutch Art Nouveau eggshell porcelain vases by Rozenburg, The Hague, circa 1900, made for the Paris World Exhibition.
Each vase combines a slender neck and flowing openwork handles with finely painted butterflies, flowers and curling foliage. A delicate palette of yellow, green and mauve enhances the lightness of the porcelain and the graceful movement of the decoration.
The bases retain Rozenburg factory marks and the bee mark corresponding to the “1900-1” entry in Rozenburg: Plateel uit Haagse kringen (1883–1917), p. 264. -
