Warren McArthur / Warren McArthur Furniture Corp.

American, 1885 - 1961
The Warren McArthur Corporation, founded by Warren McArthur Sr., was an American manufacturing company best known for its innovative aluminum furniture and contributions to modern industrial design. Warren McArthur Sr. was the brother of architects Charles and Albert McArthur, and his son, Warren McArthur Jr., became a leading figure in Machine Age design for both commercial and residential markets.

After earning an engineering degree from Cornell University in 1908, Warren McArthur Jr. began developing and patenting designs for tubular lanterns and lamps, setting the stage for his later work in furniture design. In the 1930s, the company relocated its manufacturing operations to Rome, New York, just as metal furniture was becoming highly fashionable.

Under McArthur Jr.’s leadership, the Warren McArthur Corporation became known for its sleek, durable, and lightweight tubular aluminum furniture, which embodied the streamlined aesthetics of the Machine Age. These pieces were not only visually modern but also highly functional, used in everything from luxury ocean liners and airplanes to offices and homes.

Today, Warren McArthur furniture remains celebrated worldwide for its craftsmanship, minimalist design, and historical importance in shaping modern industrial and furniture design.
