Bert Nienhuis for De Distel Art Nouveau Ibis Clock Set, circa 1900

Price Upon Request
  • Description
A Dutch Art Nouveau mantel clock with two matching vases, designed by Bert Nienhuis for De Distel, Amsterdam, circa 1900.

This three-piece ceramic garniture combines slender architectural forms with stylised blue ibises and finely drawn green botanical ornament. On the clock, two birds face one another with crossed beaks beneath the circular dial. Related bird and floral motifs decorate the rectangular side vases, creating a balanced, cohesive display.

The restrained palette and rhythmic decoration give the ensemble a distinctive Nieuwe Kunst character. Presented together, the three pieces form an expressive focal point for a mantelpiece, console or collection of Dutch decorative ceramics.
