Description
A signed and dated Chris Lebeau Unica vase, made by Ludwig Moser & Söhne in Bohemia in 1927. Formerly in the Meentwijck Collection, this is the actual example illustrated in Toegepaste kunst 1890–1940, p. 206, fig. 240, right.
The rounded, vertically ribbed body rises to a broad flared rim and rests on a short stem with a spreading circular foot. An intricate network of craquelé follows the contours, creating alternating passages of fine webbing and larger, irregular cells. The decoration gives the vase a strong visual rhythm while preserving the clarity of its silhouette.
The published catalogue identifies the material as opal semi-crystal glass with black tin-antimony craquelé and records the technique as optic-mould blowing followed by free-blowing. It also confirms the signature and date of 1927.
Acquired by Laseur Antique from the Meentwijck Collection, this vase combines expressive glassmaking with an identifiable publication history. Its distinctive form and documented provenance offer particular interest to collectors of Chris Lebeau, Moser Unica and European Art Deco glass. -
