Description
Two Art Deco Unica glass vases by Chris Lebeau, circa 1929, combining slender, elongated necks with softly rounded bodies.
The taller vase has a pale, translucent appearance, with intricate craquelé decoration concentrated around the lower body. The smaller, darker vase introduces a circular opening through its rounded base, making the surrounding space an integral part of the design. Subtle changes in the neck profiles add rhythm to their soaring silhouettes.
Displayed together, the vases form a striking sculptural composition: one light and delicately textured, the other dark and defined by its pierced form. Their contrasting surfaces invite close attention to the relationship between glass, light and space.
Both works were acquired from the Meentwijck Collection, the same collection presented in the publication Toegepaste kunst 1890–1940. This collection provenance adds a meaningful historical context to their visual appeal.
Distinctive works for collectors of Chris Lebeau, European Art Deco glass and sculptural decorative arts. -
