A. D. Copier Leerdam Unica Vase with Fused Glass Threads, 1926

Price Upon Request
  • Description
An A. D. Copier Unica glass vase for Glasfabriek Leerdam, dated 1926, formerly in the Meentwijck Collection.

The rounded body is crowned by a small, subtly raised mouth and rests on a compact foot. Against the dark ground, warm amber and russet tones illuminate a dense network of fused glass threads. The branching, irregular pattern creates a richly textured visual effect, contrasting with the simplicity of the vessel’s silhouette.

Changing light reveals different details within the decoration, giving this compact vase a strong presence both at a distance and on close inspection. Its appeal lies in the balance between restrained form and an expressive treatment of glass.

Acquired by Laseur Antique from the Meentwijck Collection, this vase comes from the same collection presented in Toegepaste kunst 1890–1940. Its collection history adds a meaningful context to a distinctive example of early Copier Unica glass.

A compelling work for collectors of A. D. Copier, historic Leerdam glass and Dutch Art Deco decorative arts.
