Bed with Headrest in Rosewood, Carlo Hauner for Forma, 1950s
-
Description
This one of a kind bed with headrest was designed by Carlo Hauner in the fifties and is truly a masterpiece. The set is entirely made in Brazilian Rosewood, known as Jacaranda. The king bed consists of two structures with sculpted cone shaped legs. The spectacular headrest has a caning panel in the middle (caning is new) with one shelf and drawer on each side. The wood has been refinished and displays colorful veins.
The bed and headrest are part of a room set consisting of a bench and a wall module as is showcased in one of the images (pieces are sold separately). We purchased this set from a house in Teresopolis, a known Modernist city two hours away from the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The piece has all the elements of Carlo Hauner work during the fifties: abundant use of rosewood, brass finishes and slim structure. The manufacturing seal is in the back of the piece.
This piece is located in our warehouse in Rio de Janeiro -
