Description
A pair of vintage ceramic table lamps made by Søholm Keramik on the Danish island of Bornholm. Both lamps are stamped “Bornholmsk Søholm Denmark”. They are made of stoneware (Stentoj) with a warm, sandy glaze and a darker relief pattern encircling the base in an interwoven, braided motif. The form is balanced and sculptural, with a gently sliming neck that meets a wide cylindrical shade.
This pair captures the essence of Scandinavian design from that period: natural materials, honest craftsmanship, and a simple yet striking aesthetic. The warm glaze and textured base give the lamps a grounded, organic feel, while the clean form ensures they sit comfortably in both vintage and modern interiors. Rarely are these seen in pairs, making these lamps even a more charming addition to any space.
Søholm Keramik was founded in 1835 and became one of Denmark’s most respected ceramic producers, known for its craftsmanship and distinctive glazes. Located on Bornholm, an island long associated with fine ceramics, the workshop produced a wide range of stoneware and art pottery until its closure in 1996. Mid-century Søholm pieces are especially admired for their earthy tones, tactile surfaces, and subtle variations that reflect the handmade process. -
