Description
Carlo Nason’s Minosse table lamp for Linea GB embodies the designer’s talent for transforming Murano glass into sculptural forms of light. Originating in the 1960s, this model is documented in a Linea GB leaflet of the period, reproduced in the Carlo Nason book Handle with Care.
Design
The lamp presents a cylindrical glass body with a subtle twist that gives it a sense of movement and depth. Its satin-white Murano glass diffuses a warm, even glow, while the sculpted concave indentation draws the eye towards a polished chrome sphere at the centre.
Nason’s approach was to treat light not as a static source but as a medium that interacts with form and material. The Minosse rests on a discreet circular base, providing balance without disturbing the visual purity of the design. Functional as a table lamp yet sculptural in presence, it illustrates the Italian search for modernity in lighting during the 1960s.
Condition
This lamp is in very good vintage condition, with only minor traces of age. The glass is free from cracks or significant wear, and the electrical system remains in working order. -
