French Marble Top & Wrought Iron Kitchen Island
-
Description
A French 19th century wrought iron culinary work-table base paired with a (more recent) white marble top of complementary patina. The thick slab reveals a fine lace of gray veining throughout, finished smooth on the top and edges with a few small chips. An architectural frame of wrought iron hints at the Directoire taste for Neoclassical symmetry juxtaposing straight rods with arched elements, accented by brass rosettes on the ends of the lower stretcher rod. The substantial scale and weight is perfectly adaptable to a kitchen island or other work surface at home or in a shop.
