Description
Created in the 1970s, this Van Cleef & Arpels Paris "Delphe" collection pendant necklace, transformable into a clip and four bracelets or two necklaces, is composed of coral, chrysoprase, and 18K gold. The jewel is composed of 18K gold highly textured links is set at intervals with cabochon coral and chrysoprase, suspending a conforming pendant. A classic 1970s Van Cleef & Arpels parure, with its vibrant colors and rich gold, exemplified the colorful opulence and casual spirit of the period so well expressed by this top Parisian maison.

Van Cleef & Arpels high jewelry of the 1960s and 1970s was inspired by the opulent forms and colors of Indian models, which displayed a freedom from rigid conventions and more inclusive and intriguing standards of beauty. "Delphe" or Delphi was a spiritual center of Ancient Greece, and the seat of a powerful priestess, an oracle of prophecies and possessed of divine wisdom. -
