Pair of Italian porcelain and gilt bronze sconces by Pauly & Co

This fine pair of sconces is by the Venetian firm Pauly & Co. Each sconce features a gilt bronze frame, composed of a ribbon-tied crown, a central foliate wreath, a trailing acanthus leave lower section, and twin scrolled candleholder branches. The central foliate wreath of each is inset with a circular porcelain plaque, the plaque of each sconce delicately painted with a Renaissance style figurative scene within an ornate parcel gilt border. The pair is a superb example of the work of Pauly & Co.
