Description
The Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair, arguably the most sought after mid century chair, and for good reason as it is supremely comfortable and built to last. The iconic Papa Bear chair is restored to excellent vintage condition. A truly iconic chair, newly upholstered in grey Maharam wool. The chair features beautiful oak legs and teak paws.
We have created alternative cushions of green and blue for those who believe a change is as good as a holiday.
These chairs, while created during the Mid century modern era, are timeless, iconic pieces of functional art that would look incredible in almost any contemporary environment. They would effortlessly blend into modern, regency and even traditional decor.
The Papa Bear Chair, also known as the Teddy Bear Chair, was designed by Hans Wegner in 1951. The chair is named for its large, welcoming form, which is reminiscent of a bear's embrace. The Papa Bear Chair is characterized by its curved backrest, which extends up and around the sides of the chair to create armrests that are both comfortable and supportive. The chair's seat is also curved and angled slightly downward, creating a comfortable and relaxed sitting position.
