French 18th Century Solid Walnut Trestle Table
-
Description
A substantial 18th century French oak trestle table milled from solid walnut and constructed to last generations. Impossibly heavy, the planks are 1 ⅞” thick to create a solid top for dining or working, with no visible joinery interrupting the smooth grain. Typical of refectory tables, the two support legs are wide and shaped on the edges to graceful undulations for an interesting profile when viewed from the side. Not one but two square-cut stretchers span the distance in between the legs and protrude from the sides as little points. Graceful “shoes” at the floor offer visual balance as well as structural support. The narrow proportions are more to European standard, for casual place settings and long conversations. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this historic dining table is ready to join your interior. Please view the detailed images.
