A Sea of Imagination: Fornasetti’s Iconic Pesci Plates

This complete set of six porcelain plates from Fornasetti’s renowned Pesci (Fish) series showcases his trademark fusion of humor, precision, and surreal fantasy. Each plate presents a unique underwater vignette — schools of brilliantly colored fish gliding across a luminous white ground — transforming everyday tableware into refined works of art. Inspired by historic natural history engravings and rendered with masterful transfer-print technique, the plates shimmer with vibrant hues and remarkable clarity. Fornasetti’s Pesci design captures the optimism and playful innovation of postwar Italian modernism. Dimensions: 9 inch diameter. $3,000
