De Nieuwe Honsel Amsterdam School Table Lamp, circa 1925

Description
A distinctive De Nieuwe Honsel table lamp from the Amsterdam School period, circa 1920-1928, combining richly enameled glass with a sculptural wooden base. The expressive sail-like form and warm, atmospheric light are characteristic of early 20th-century Dutch interior design. This model is illustrated in Wonen in de Amsterdamse School by Ingeborg de Roode and Marjan Groot; a comparable example was also shown in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam’s 2016 Amsterdam School exhibition.
