Fred Silberman got started on Long Island back in 1967 selling Art Nouveau, Tiffany, porcelain, glass, ceramics and other art objects. We later moved in 1970 to the first large Antique Center in Manhattan, after a few years we out grew our space when we moved to Madison Ave where we remained till we moved again to Soho in 1986. We carried a wide variety of furniture, lighting and sculpture from Austria, Germany and Italy. We made our first buying trip to Italy in 1979 and soon after our first shipment in Spring of 1980. Italy open up a whole new world to us in 20th century decorative art. We created and bought from a large network of dealers and pickers. It was and still is very exciting, you never know what treasure will turn up next. Italian creativity is amazing, their designs are 20 to 30 years in advance and the variety is endless. Our main focus is on Italian furniture and lighting of 20th and 21st century. We also handle German, Austria and American sculpture, porcelain, ceramics, bronzes and enamels.
