De Nieuwe Honsel Amsterdam School Tulip Pendant Lamp, circa 1925

Price Upon Request
  • Description
An expressive Amsterdam School pendant lamp by De Nieuwe Honsel, circa 1925, combining richly enamelled glass with a sculptural bronze framework and decorative textile fringe.

Stylised tulip motifs follow the curved panels of the broad shade, creating a rhythmic interplay of warm colour and flowing ornament. The dark framework defines the composition, while the fringe softens its lower edge.

A distinctive upper light, known as the “balcony,” introduces a second illuminated element above the main shade, giving the lamp an unusually articulated silhouette. When illuminated, the glass reveals the richness of its colour and decoration.

At 57 cm wide, the lamp makes a substantial focal point above a dining table or within an entrance hall. Its adjustable hanging height allows the proportions to be adapted to the setting. A compelling piece for collectors of Amsterdam School design and Dutch interwar lighting.
