Description
This sculptural floor lamp reflects a late mid-century modern exploration of movement, balance, and articulated light. Rising from a circular Carrara marble base, a polished chromed column supports five slender arcing arms, each extending outward at a different length and terminating in a hemispherical metal shade. The staggered arcs create a cascading profile that reads as both architectural and fluid.
Each arm is independently adjustable laterally, allowing the light sources to be directed across a wide spatial range. This articulation introduces flexibility without disrupting the lamp’s overall compositional clarity. The domed shades diffuse light softly while retaining a precise, reflective surface that emphasizes the lamp’s linear geometry.
Material contrast is central to the design’s resolution. The reflective chrome structure highlights proportion and curvature, while the solid marble base provides visual weight and structural stability, grounding the extended reach of the arms. The result is a carefully balanced composition in which mass and levity are held in tension.
The lamp has been professionally rewired for use in the United States and remains in excellent vintage condition. A thoughtfully engineered lighting object, it exemplifies modernist principles of structural clarity, material integrity, and adaptable function, making it well-suited to serious collections and refined interiors. -
