Pair of 1950s Italian Brass and Opaline Glass Wall Sconces

Pair of Italian wall sconces from the 1950s, crafted in brass with opaline glass diffusers. The design is simple and well balanced, combining a gently curved brass arm with a softly faceted opaline glass shade.

Each sconce is mounted on a circular brass wall plate measuring 10 cm in diameter (approximately 3.9 inches). From this plate, a slender brass arm extends outward before bending downward in a smooth angular curve, creating a light and elegant profile. The opaline glass shade has a tapered geometric form with subtle facets that soften the transition between the narrower top and the wider lower section. This shape diffuses the light evenly while giving the fixture a quiet sculptural presence.

The warm tone of the brass contrasts subtly with the matte white surface of the opaline glass, a combination typical of Italian mid-century lighting design. The compact proportions and restrained geometry make these sconces suitable for a wide range of interiors, from mid-century environments to more contemporary spaces.

Condition
Very good vintage condition. The brass surfaces display a natural patina with light oxidation, small tonal variations, and minor surface marks consistent with age and use. The opaline glass diffusers are well preserved, with only minimal signs of wear typical of vintage production. The fixtures are fitted with standard E14 sockets and can be used in Europe as well as in the USA and Canada with compatible bulbs.
