This pair of Italian table lamps from the 1950s features a clean, modern design built around a compact, geometric composition. Each lamp is structured as a solid brass cylinder rising from a flat circular base, supporting a perfectly spherical opaline glass shade. The upper half of the sphere is capped by a finely made, darkened steel dome, which creates a sharp horizontal line between the metal and the white glass and gives the lamps a graphic, architectural presence both lit and unlit. The brass bases show an attractive, even patina developed over time, adding warmth and depth to the otherwise minimalist design.
Recently rewired, the lamps use standard E14 bulbs, suitable for use in Europe as well as in the United States and Canada with the appropriate bulbs and plugs.
These lamps work well as bedside or side-table lights, providing a soft, diffuse glow while keeping a strong mid-century Italian character.
