Sascha Brastoff Ceramic Mid Century Modern Table Lamp. A Sascha Brastoff "Original Abstract Series" Mid Century Modern Table Lamp. Tall ceramic cylindrical shape with banding of mixed colors, crazing, and gilt bands with patinaed brass pole having two sockets. The top has a small height extension that can be removed if desired. With the extension shade height would be 18 inches, without extension shade height would be 14 inches. This is a singed piece in very good original condition. Push button on/off switch on rear of base. Please note the Shade in the pictures is not included.

Sascha Brastoff (1918–1993) was a prolific mid-century American designer, ceramist, and performer who built a Mid-Century Modern decorative arts empire in Los Angeles. Known for his flamboyant style and versatility, becoming a titan of California studio pottery. In 1947, with backing from Winthrop Rockefeller, he opened a factory in West Los Angeles. His studio produced high-end porcelain dinnerware, vases, and ashtrays characterized by graffito techniques and hand-applied gold accents. Sascha Brastoff’s lamps are among his most high-end and sought-after works, often considered functional sculptures rather than just household lighting. Produced primarily between 1947 and 1963 at his Los Angeles studio, these pieces were a staple of Hollywood "Pottery to the Stars" decor.
