Pair of French 20th Century Reproduction Giltwood Mirrors

This spectacular pair of gold giltwood mantle mirrors was made in the Louis Philippe style in France, towards the start of the 20th Century. The mirrors are impressively sized, each standing at 5? tall. The classically styled Louis Philippe mirrors are crowned with beautiful crests, complete with meticulously carved flowers, acanthus leaf scrolls, and a central shell cartouche. The gold gilt is in wonderful condition, with stripes subtly etched into the metallic finish, giving the moulded frames added ornamentation. The glass is new and original to the mirrors. It is trimmed with gilt beaded pearl edging. This impressive French pair is a total show-stopper: from the mirrors’ incredible crests to their lustrous, striated metallic finish!
