French 19th Century Pair of Directoire Fauteuils
-
Description
A stunning pair of 19th century French Directoire fauteuils (armchairs) with fanciful carvings under light green paint reminiscent of celadon porcelain, complemented by tone-on-tone upholstered seats. The oak-framed chairs have generous proportions and sturdy construction to use as occasional chairs in practically any room in need of understated seating. Classical touches are evident as the Ionic column profile of the splat on the seat back to scrolled carvings rounding out the toprail and slope of the arms. Firm but comfortable seats are upholstered in a pale green linen outlined in double-welt cording of a terracotta hue. Please view the detailed images to see more of these timeless armchairs. Sold as a pair.
