Description
Pair of Italian wall sconces from the 1950s, attributed to Stilnovo, crafted in brass with black lacquered brass accents and opaline glass diffusers. The design reflects the refined balance and graphic clarity typical of Italian mid-century modern lighting.
Each sconce is composed of a circular brass wall plate (12 cm / approx. 4.7 in diameter) from which a slender brass arm projects outward and angles gently upward. The light source is supported by a curved brass stem, creating a dynamic, asymmetric composition that gives the fixture a sense of lightness and movement.
A thin black lacquered metal rod runs diagonally from the wall plate to the arm, acting both as a structural brace and as a strong graphic element—an elegant contrast to the warm tone of the brass. The opaline glass diffuser features a softly tapered, double-cone silhouette, visually divided by a black lacquered metal band that echoes the linear structure of the frame. The glass provides a soft, even, and atmospheric light.
Wall plate diameter: 12 cm (approx. 4.7 in).
Fitted with standard E14 sockets, suitable for Europe, USA, and Canada with compatible bulbs.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The brass surfaces display a warm, natural patina with light surface marks and minor oxidation consistent with age and careful use. The black lacquered brass elements show small signs of wear and slight paint loss in limited areas. The opaline glass is in very good condition, with only minimal surface irregularities typical of vintage production and use. Cleaned and ready for installation. -
