This rare table lamp was produced by Axella Stentøj in Denmark in the late 1960s. The lamp is incised with the manufacturer’s name/logo and the model number 989 on the underside of the base.
The sculptural stoneware base features an organic, twisting form with fluid contours that create a sense of movement and balance. Its hand-applied glaze blends earthy shades of caramel, brown, and ochre, producing a rich, variegated surface that highlights the ceramic’s depth and texture. The contrast between glazed and unglazed areas adds a tactile dimension, emphasizing the craftsmanship and natural beauty of the material.
The cylindrical shade has been renewed in a neutral, smooth ivory fabric, complementing the earthy tones of the base.
The lamp is in very good condition, featuring a renewed shade and updated wiring. It currently has 220V European wiring and a standard E26/E27 bulb fitting.
