Eisler and Hauner 'Costela' Lounge Chairs - 1960's
-
Description
Martin Eisler & Carlo Hauner for Forma, sofa, Brazilian hardwood, metal, and fabric, Brazil, the 1960s. We can reupholster the original fabric cushions in any fabric of choice. This way you at least don't have to pay for someone else's wrong choice. Pair of 'Bone' chairs by Brazilian designer duo Eisler and Hauner. This chair is iconic for Brazilian Mid-Century Modern design from the 1960s. This particular piece is executed with a black coated steel frame and Brazilian wooden slats that are patinated. It's hard to find these iconic chairs in such admirable aged condition, which makes this a desirable set. The slats are straight in the middle and curved towards the ends and rhythmic positioned in a line. Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were both born in Europe, Italy and Austria respectively, and immigrated to Brazil after World War II. They were both very much invested in the modern Brazilian utopia of creating a better world.
