Description
Fantastic nutwood chest of drawers/ writing commode from the renowed Biedermeier period in Austria. Veneered in fine light nutwood showing an outstanding grain, this perfect restored chest from around 1830 provides four large drawers. The hinged top drawer transforms this remarkable Biedermeier chest of drawers into a fully functional "writing desk" with a beautiful ebonized writing surface. It holds another four small, birds-eye maple wood veneered drawers as well as two open compartments in the center. A traditional hand polished shellac finish and great looking brass fittings finalize this exceptional antique writing commode/ chest of drawers. A real impressive masterpiece of Biedermeier furniture from the early 19th century in Austria.
