Modernist Tessellated Geometric Mirror with Stepped & Beveled Detailing
-
Description
This modernist Art Deco style geometric mirror was realized in the United States, Circa 1977. It features a tessellated border consisting of rectangular segments of plain mirror interrupted by rows of adjacent square forms. The top of the mirror is crowned by a dramatic skyscraper style geometric tapestry of rectilinear forms all in plain mirror- a stylized modernist riff on the intricate neoclassic cartouches that adorn the tops of traditional Venetian mirrors. With its clean modernist lines and dramatic economy of form to create an object that has all of the verve of great American 20th Century design, this piece is as versatile as it is stunning. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. Signed by the artist Carol Canner on the reverse. It is in excellent vintage condition.
