Description
This 1920' x s SE Persian city carpet shows a royal blue field patterned by quadrilobes and shield cartouches in light blue, straw, teal and wine red. A variety of flowering stems fills in the reserves while palmettes accent the major panels. Navy main border of octofoil rosettes and ivory cartouches. Light blue secondary borders. Fine urban weave. Pattern taken from classical 16th century sources. Cotton foundation. Good condition. Elegant carpet with impeccable design provenance.
