Description
A French period Directoire trumeau mirror from the late 18th century with gilded accents, carved urn, distressed paint and mirror. This French Directoire mirror features an elegant linear Silhouette. The light colored distressed paint finish is delicately accented by discreet gilded motifs. Two elongated diamond motifs flank a central urn carved in low-relief. The horizontal design of this upper section is perfectly balanced by the presence of the two pilasters that accentuate the sides of the mirror plate beautifully. Each is adorned with delicate gilded sun-shaped motifs whose curvy lines present a great contrast with the diamonds above. The mirror plate is nicely distressed. Typical of the Directoire period in its sobriety and the simplicity of its line, this trumeau mirror circa 1790 will be an elegant decorative accent in any room. With its light color palette and understated grace, it will look wonderful perhaps placed above an enfilade, console table or chest-of-drawers.
