Description
A pair of Italian Rococo style painted wood door panels from the early 19th century, with carved scrolling cartouches, painted bouquets and nicely weathered patina. How not to be immediately charmed by this pair of Rococo style Italian door panels? Featuring a cream colored ground with distressed accents, each panel attracts our immediate attention with its two cartouches that seem to be responding to one another. In the upper section, an asymmetrical silver toned cartouche made of C-scrolls, foliage and twisted rope motifs surrounds a delicate bouquet of flowers standing out on a neutral toned background. In the lower part, a smaller cartouche with sinuous lines frames another bouquet on turquoise ground. The backs are sans décor with lots of good distressing. These panels are very real with lots of authentic character and some chipping to the very old paint. With their lovely décor and great patina, this pair of Italian Rococo style door panels from the early 19th century will make for a great decorative accentuation to any home. They are sold as is and as seen in the photos.
