A pair of French Louis XIV period late 17th century carved cherub appliques from Strasbourg, with scrolling design. Born in the Alsacien city of Strasbourg in 1690s (which was annexed by French King Louis XIV in 1681), each of this pair of appliques features a carved decor depicting a chubby cherub showcasing a body made of scrolls. Highly decorative and demonstrating an undeniable quality in its execution, this pair of Louis XIV Strasbourgeoises appliques circa 1690, will make for an excellent addition to any wall, perhaps hung above a commode, buffet or side table.
