Swedish Early 19th Century Gustavian Painted Tall Cabinet with Reeded Doors

$ 8,950
  • Description
    A Swedish Gustavian early 19th century painted wood two-part cabinet from the county of Jämtland. Born in the second decade of the 19th century in Jämtland, a county situated in the middle of Sweden, this Swedish tall cabinet features a large molded cornice, sitting above two reeded doors, typical of the Gustavian era. These doors open to reveal several inner shelves, including a spoon shelf, as well as hidden drawers and an open compartment. The interior paint is original while the exterior paint has been added later. An open shelf sits above the lower cabinet, made of a long drawer and two reeded doors. The general décor is quite understated, only featuring the reeding of the doors and the exquisite half-columns with tall pedestals that separate them from one another. The ensemble is raised on a short plinth with bracket feet. With its beautifully weathered patina and lovely silhouette, this Swedish 1820s will complement any room beautifully.
